We LOVE our furry friends... NO, I mean we really LOVE our furry friends. Enough to spend everyday, all day long with our four legged pals, get up the next morning and do it all over again with LOVE in our hearts and a smile on our face. The hardworking crew at Kat's Dogs can get up every morning with the same passion because we know that what we do for your four legged friends, not many other people have the 'know-how' or take the time and thoroughness to do. Kat's crew are all individually trained to perform the utmost groom and care quality that Kat set out to provide her customers when she first opened her business. As the business grew Kat new she had to spread he wings and provide jobs to hard working individuals willing to learn in order to keep up with customer demands, "People have asked me, would you let them groom your dog? and my answer is, they are the only ones I would let groom my dogs, I'm proud to say that I think a few of them can out-groom me, mission accomplished." The dedication Kat puts into grooming her customers furry friends is the same dedication she put into training her staff and she wouldn't have it any other way. "My customers expect high quality care and grooming, I'm not going to lessen the quality because I have too much to do, I'm going to train hard workers to be able to produce the same results. I owe that to my customers."
OUR PHILOSOPHY.
We Believe, here at Kat's Dogs, that dogs were put on this Earth to teach us; Patience, loyalty, forgiveness... That time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time at all. They are our connection to humanity in this chaotic world. At Kat's Dogs, there is no such thing as a "Bad" dog and that word is actually forbidden in our sanctuary because no dog was ever born bad. Behavior is learned through experience and most learned behaviors can be changed with positive reinforcement.
Where was I, Oh yes, our philosophy. "FIRM yet Gentle". If you are in the shop there are many times you might here one of us say this to another, "Firm yet Gentle". Dogs communicate by touch, body language and the tone in our voices. Around a nervous dog, the 3 key elements are to ground yourself, lower the tone in your voice and maintain gentle contact. We want to build a trusting relationship to last between our four legged friends, this is how we do it.
KAT'S STORY.
Established August 2014, Kat's Dogs quickly outgrew a humble little rented space in Burton, SC and now thrives at 20 Parris Island Gateway thanks to our dedicated and loyal patrons. That's not all to the story though...
On her way to work early one morning, 4 days after the grand opening of her first location, Kat was in a serious accident on Old Sheldon Church Road. Before Kat had time to realize what happened, she was being flown to the Savannah Hospital. An unchained trailer hit Kat's car head on. Concerned people stopped at the scene of the accident and called the emergency response team. It was a miracle that she survived.
After 2 months of thorough surgery, rehabilitation, the support of family, friends and incredible patrons; Kat was able to return to her dream job. "I was asked if I was going to close the shop down and I hadn't even considered it to be an option, this is what I love." It's a testament to her passion for providing high quality groom and care services for pets and their owners alike to see her at the shop each morning, smiling as she greets each customer and employee.
Thank you to the amazing people who called, wrote letters, stopped by, and gave their heart to show Kat how much she was loved. That love carried her through some of the hardest times in her life and she is so grateful for everyone.
