What vaccinations are required for my dog to be groomed?
Rabies and Bordetella(kennel cough) for the safety of your pet and all those around you.
What will my pets groom cost?
Grooming prices are estimates ONLY and the prices on the pictures attached below are where grooming prices start. The only person who can give you a more exact groom estimate is the groomer who assesses the condition of the coat, temperament and time it will take to complete the grooming necessities. We will be more than happy to give an approximate estimate over the phone so you have a good range in mind, but it is not a guarantee because like people, every dog is different and may have different needs. Kat's Dogs groomers don't do half groom jobs, we do the whole thing start to finish! That being said Kat's Dogs will never render unnecessary services just to increase a price, We work diligently to ensure your pet is comfortable, safe, mat and pest free... sometimes this takes more product/work/time enhancing the cost of the groom. Unless there is a danger to the pet or staff, it is our professional obligation to complete a groom in it's entirety to ensure a healthy, well-maintained dog or cat leaves Kat's Dogs shop. We want your groom to last! When you select our establishment for professional grooming knowledge we can explain, educate and make grooming recommendations that will help you maintain the grooming responsibilities of your particular breed.
How long will it take?
Grooming time depends on the service being performed, the condition of coat and temperament of the pet. There are so many variables when working with a pet, especially if its your pet's first time with us. Kat's Dogs would rather spend the time needed to suite each individual pets' needs for a stress free and positive groom experience. We want to get the groom job done in it's entirety and with positive reinforcement, this can take some time. At Kat's Dogs we will most likely give you a time estimate of around 1 1/2-3 hours for a bath and 3-4 hours for a De-shed or Fur-cut and style. If you think this seems like a long time, give us a call and inform us what breed you have and how much they way for a better time estimate. We will do our best to give you a 15 minute to 30 minute heads up prior to the completion of your dogs groom. If your dog does well for grooming and you would like your dog groomed in a shorter amount of time, we do offer a $15 Rush Fee.
Is my dog in a kennel the whole time?
No. As part of a low stress environment, Kat's Dogs allows groom dogs to relax in the front gates area of the shop as long as they exhibit positive social behavior. The only time a dog is kenneled is after their bath and high velocity blow dry in a kennel with blowers(NOT HEATED, just blowing air), to take the dampness from the coat so our groomers can provide you the best finished cut possible. We never want you to take home a wet dog, this allows dirt to stick to your dogs coat defeating the whole purpose of their bath. Most dogs become accustomed and seem relaxed by the kennel blowers as part of their groom process. Dogs who do not do well in a kennel are blown straight through.
Do I have to come pick up my dog right after you call?
As part of Kat's Dogs low stress environment we give every owner a heads up before their dog is ready in case they would like to pick up their pet right away, but we know not every person is able to drop what they are doing and come pick up right away. We provide a two hour leeway for owners to pick up their dogs and if you don't make that, it's ok! Kat's Dogs has the staffing available to provide potty breaks ensuring the cleanliness of our environment and the happiness of your pet for the cost of a half day of daycare added to your groom $9. If you can give us a heads up that you will not be able to pick up your pet within this time frame we will take your pet for a leashed potty break right away. Potty breaks are often given prior to the groom but we always recommend a good walk or some time outside for your pet to relieve themselves before they get too excited when they realize they are leaving to go get their groom on at Kat's Dogs!
What should I keep in mind when bringing my dog into the Kat's Dogs environment?
Kat's Dogs is not your typical dog grooming environment. We want to make you, as the owner as much apart of that as we are. Things to remember are be positive and use positive reinforcement so your dog will feel from you that this is a GOOD experience. Don't let your dog jump on you or the staff. You want to reassure your dog that you are in control by maintaining your alpha status and not allowing them to jump. If your dog has an accident while you are standing in the shop, don't worry and don't over-react. It's okay, sometimes nerves get the best of our furry friends and we will get it cleaned up and start acclimating your pet to our environment so they feel more comfortable.
